Sharing
and community is always an important part of any of Emily's workshops and retreats.
This photo is from the Writing, Creativity and Ritual Retreat in Glastonbury
England this summer! Writing
is a visceral experience born of a deep longing for authenticity that carries
us inward to a self we often do not consciously know. As creative people, we hunger
for this self that dances to a song the outer world cannot hear much less understand. All
of my workshops use the weave of writing, creativity and ritual to explore our
inner world which draws us with its unique song. In
our sessions, we write, share and critique. We use the "what ifs" and
"what happens next" of story telling and other techniques of the short
story, novel and fictionalized non-fiction. We explore our creativity through
guided imagery, interviewing characters and techniques Emily has developed to
further your stories and access your creative passion. We use ritual to make the
intangible tangible as we experience the deeper reality of the invisible world.
"There's
no inner landscape in the invisible world of our souls and hearts but is full
of the most melodious and nourishing and wild freedom. And everyone should go
there, to the wild place, where there are no cages, where there are no tight rooms
without windows and without doors, everyone should go to the free clearance places
in their own hearts." ~

If
you follow the path of creativity, you will be amazed at what is inside you. Where
your imagination can take you? Do you dare to follow? This fun-filled workshop
will show you how! - Welcome
the unknown into your writing
- Mine
your first draft for the jewels
- Trust
your imagination -- give it the lead!
- Make
the all-important move out of self and into the life of your characters.
- Enjoy
the support and the fun of sharing your writing in a support circle.
- Critiquing
is always supportive and will inspire you to go deeper and take the risks
passionate writing demands.
The
workshop is for writers of all levels. If you have been to any of Emily's past
workshops, this workshop will build on and deepen the work you have done as well
as bring the first timer into the magical world of the imagination! In
Marblehead, we will share a three-hour writing workshop in the morning, then have
time off in the afternoon and come back together in later afternoon. Thursday
evening we will meet for our first session. Friday night we will gather for open
readings and Saturday night I expect we will be drawn to to the Marblehead festivities,
but that will be determined when we are there. We will end around noon on Sunday.
