Writing Coach for the novel, short story, memoir writing

What Makes Emily's Coaching Different

1. I have an intuitive understanding of both writing and the writer's relationship to his or her writing as well as the supportive power of the creative process itself. I have written numerous articles and a book about writing and the creative process.

2. My fiction has been published by major commercial publishing houses and my writing expertise runs the gamut from the short story to the novel and the memoir. I have written successfully for adults, young adults and children. Many writing coaches are limited in their own writing experiences and, if they have been published, it is often in small literary magazines.

3. I do not have a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. Writing is an aspect of your creativity and your relationship to your self, and I take all of this into account in working with you. I know how to stand strong against the negative voices inside of you that give you a hundred reasons why you shouldn't write.

4. I know how to turn you into the writer you want to be! Teaching and leading people like you on the creative journey is my passion. As we work together and I get to know you, I'll expand and deepen the writing program that I develop especially for you.

"I hired Emily Hanlon as a writing coach to help me complete my first novel. It was in its draft state when we met, and I needed her to help me figure out how to convey my complex storyline. It was immediately apparent that she understood the deepest emotionality of the story's message and intuitively knew how to help me access my own unconscious creative process. Suddenly, I was discovering critical new characters that were driving the tale into surprising directions. From beginning to end, thanks to Emily's probing and meaningful insights, I experienced the joy of seeing myself evolve as a writer. I now have a completed novel that is far beyond my wildest expectations!"
