The Muse?
Being honest with the work is the biggest risk of all...
Daring to delve down, laying yourself bare and and letting the truth of your being be your Muse.

This honesty comment is probably one of the most important things about writing. I find often that , even in use of words, I blur truth by being too adjectival/etc. And re the incidents/feelings, it is so easy to ignore truth.
Why. I'm not sure. I'm working on something where one of the major incidents had totally slipped my mind until, inadvertently, someone mentioned it. Now I've put in story.
It's hard to be honest. I guess we get so accustomed to our public masks, public conversations, that the idea of raw honesty, even if we subscribe to it, is difficult to reach. Eliza
