We meet for a three hour workshop in the morning, then break for lunch around 12:30. For more detail, see Our Journey, below. We have three hours free in the afternoons — for alone time, soaking in the hot tub, or exploring the wonders of Acadia National Park as a group or on your own. Our shore front is a two minute walk from the house, and there are several lovely trails accessible from Rising Sun Cottage. Eagles often fly overhead!
On some days we come back for another session around 3:30 in the afternoon. On other days, we have the whole afternoon off.
In the evenings we close our day together with open readings and other activities.
Our gourmet meals are cooked by my private chef. We have all our meals at the house, except for one dinner and one lunch, which we eat in Bar Harbor restaurants I love!
Our Journey Together on the Retreat: Opening Doorways to New Characters, New Stories, and New Ways of Writing... Words alone do not a writer make! The womb of our writing is our creativity. On the retreat, we journey through the language of creativity: dreams, symbols, images, colors, rhythms, and intuition! We have fun. We laugh. We share. We support. We welcome challenge. We learn to love our first draft writing. We dig deeper. We become fearless Warriors for our creativity, our characters, and our writing. Creativity Arises From Risk and Passion. We Cannot Write Without It! Passion and risk are our guides. This year the Medial Woman will guide us as we uncover new sources for our writing and our relationship to our self. As we follow her, we will triumph where once we failed. We will fly where once we crawled. We find a home within our self that was always there, waiting...
"By falling in love with other women's words on this retreat, we found our own voices." ~ Diane Lodge Peters
