Creativity and Writing The Beautiful Journey
"I've never been in a group of women and felt so comfortable or accepted. There was no judgment, jealousy or comparing, just love and encouragement. ~ Judy Oliveri
The Weave of Writing and Creativity allows us to experience ourselves as women writers unfettered by our Inner Critics.
No matter your writing experience, you become a part of a circle of women who are open to the daring, the fun and the passion of a deeper creativity. Write from Prompts or Bring the Story You're Already Writing! Each day, we share a three-hour writing workshop. Our critiquing is supportive and motivating.
If a piece works, why?
If a piece doesn't work, what might make it better?
We learn how to "mine" first draft material for the "jewels" that hold the heat of the story. We explore the "what ifs" and "what happens next" of storytelling and character development, structure, how plot emerges from character and other techniques relevant to the short story, novel, and fictionalized non-fiction.
Creativity On The Retreat: We explore the creative process through guided imagery, interviewing characters, music, and other techniques I've developed to both further your stories and access the passion of the creative unconscious.
The Creative Source For This Retreat: This year, the Medial Woman is the creative source of our seven-day journey together.
The Medial Woman's importance to us as writers is that she is a story teller, healer, teacher, and a wise woman.
She is instinctual by nature, trusts her intuition and her deep well of knowledge that transcends the mind’s awareness.
She is rooted both in outer reality and the unseen realms; she sees with both her inner and outer eyes.
Among her names are Mother Night, She Who Sees In the Dark, She Who Walks Between Two Worlds and She Whose Knowledge is Beyond Knowing.
