Because each student is so different, our journeys together are different. That’s what “Getting to Know You” is about. Though it sounds obvious, it's worth stating: Every one of my students is unique. You have your personality. Your history. Your situation. Your goals. Your life. And your Book. These all combine to create total uniqueness! It’s my job to help you build your book, one scene at a time, in the unique context of you as a person! If you take five minutes to think about the seven questions below, you yourself may gain a better idea of your environment as a writer. When you and I subsequently talk, these answers will form just the beginning of my getting to know you and your writing.
Why do you write?
How much and what have you written in the past?
How many days in the week, on average, do you write?
How much of your writing time do you enjoy, and how much seems to be an obligation that you’re fulfilling?
Do people who are important in your life encourage you to write? Or discourage you from writing?
What would make you feel that you’re a successful writer?
How much time during a normal day is available to you to simply think about your story? Driving. Walking. Sitting at a coffee shop. In bed, before you fall asleep. Smart phone/social media time. Five minutes here, five minutes there.
Though our work is focused on your book, our journey is based on you. Sounds trite. But in fact, it’s absolutely critical to our successful journey together!
This connection between us is so important to your successful journey with me that you’ll know whether I’m right for you (or not) once we’ve talked on the phone.
If you think you and your book would benefit from working with me, please call me at 914-962-4432 between 9:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. Eastern Time. Or you can send me a message. I look forward to talking with you!
