A Mentoring Program for Writers

Mentoring

My Mentoring Program offers two distinguishing benefits by comparison to One-on-One Coaching:

I Mentor You
I’m not co-writing your book, but I am walking alongside you, offering guidance, sometimes pushing you, always encouraging, always listening, and doing everything to keep you on the path towards finishing your book while simultaneously improving it. While you're moving forward, you're steadily improving as a writer. While we work, I'll help you define what is most important in your writing journey at any given time. I say "at any given time" because as you grow as a writer, the reasons that you write and the goals you set, change.

I’m Readily Available
  • Whenever you most need me, I’ll be there.
  • When you’re hot, and you’d like guidance on a particular issue right then and there so you can keep going, I'm there.
  • When you’re stuck, and What If isn’t generating an idea that seems to you to work, I may be able to offer you an idea that does work. So you’re no longer stuck!
  • When you’ve got an idea that seems either wonderful or horrible, and you just don’t know which, but before you spend hours developing it, you’d like my input… I won’t decide for you, but I’ll offer thoughts that’ll help you decide.
  • When for whatever reason (or none at all) you’ve decided that you’re a lousy writer and should throw in the towel, I’ll help you remember all the attributes that make you a good writer, and help you explore the thoughts that led you to such an erroneous conclusion... then you can consign those thoughts to the dump! And move on.

Much of the time, our weekly appointments will suffice to keep you moving forward. But there will also be times when I can be much more effective when I can help you right then and there.

What “Available” Means:
Sometimes when you call, I can talk right then and there. Other times, I’ll give you a time, sooner rather than later, when we can talk. Or if I’m not there and you leave a message, I’ll call you back as soon as I get the message.

It also means that if we’ve not talked for a while, I’ll call you just to check in and see how you’re doing, and to offer a few words of encouragement if I think you might be needing that!

These periodic, spur of the moment discussions complement the foundation of our work together – the weekly, scheduled appointments that move your work steadily forward.

Our relationship in the Mentoring Program leads you on an exploration of your deeper creativity, which changes not only your writing but also your life. This aspect weaves invisibly through all our work together.

Pricing:
To accommodate different needs and financial situations, I offer three periods of commitment:
  •  Three Months: $3500
  • Six Months: $6000
  • Twelve Months: $9500

Because I spend much of the day on my other teaching programs and my own writing, I can accept very few students for mentoring. This limitation ensures that I can indeed be available when you need me! Currently, I am taking applications for my Waiting List.
