One-On-One Lessons with Emily Hanlon
Private lessons at my home in Yorktown, NY are a way for you to work one-on-one with me. I also work with students all over the world by phone. There's a one-hour introductory lesson for all new students, and after that you can choose from a five-lesson or ten-lesson customized program.
Each lesson is one hour, and these private lesson programs allow me to gain a deep understanding of your goals and needs as a writer.
Based on where you are in your writing, I'll teach you how to powerfully integrate the techniques of fiction writing with the stories and characters that you're creating.
Some of the most compelling fiction writing concepts we'll cover over the course of these programs are:
- Point of View: This is one of the most liberating techniques in fiction writing. It gets you out of yourself and into your character’s head, heart, and instincts.
- Dramatic Tension: Every story needs dramatic tension and a sense of mystery to create "What happens next?" This is what makes the reader want to turn the page.
- Demystify the Process of Fiction Writing: Understanding the difference between inner dramatic tension, which is character-driven, and outer dramatic tension, which is plot-driven, will help demystify the process of fiction writing.
