Over the years, I’ve learned that when some of my students first read about my teaching, they waited awhile until they felt it was the right time to begin working with me. With this in mind, I decided to post once-a-week writing prompts so prospective students can get a sense of what it feels like to work with me, even if now isn't the right time to begin with private lessons or join one of my weekly writing classes.
Each week, I’ll make a Prompt available to you; each Prompt will focus on one of the techniques in Emily's Foundation. One of the most powerful aspects of these Prompts is that you’re actuallywriting, and in doing so you’re thinking about the techniques that I’d use to improve your writing when we work together.
I suggest that you save both the prompt and your related writing in a folder. If and when you decide you’d like to work with me, we can then use this material, in addition to the story you may be writing, as a basis for us to begin our work together!
