Learn To Write Like Your Characters Really Exist...
That's What We Do In My Ten-Week Writing Workshops!
I love that you get excited about our writing... Sara Healy
I am pleased I made that decision to call you. I realize how really good you are as a writing mentor/coach. I love that you get excited about our writing and you don't take it apart. You delight in our creativity, even when we're struggling. That's special, Emily. There aren't many people who do that. Thank you." |
I've been leading fiction writing workshops for over forty years, and have helped hundreds of people develop as writers. Some who had never written before have gone on to complete and sell their novels!
I Have Two Weekly Writing Workshops: Both meet in ten week series as a Conference call. Join from anywhere in the world.
Each workshop has a maximum of five students.
I have one opening in my Wednesday workshop and two in my Monday workshop. The workshops are not for beginners and most of the participants work on novels. If you are a beginner or relatively new to fiction writing, I suggest my Five or Ten Hour Programs. These programs prepare students for participating in the weekly workshops. |

"Emily, my development and persistence as a writer is due in no small part to you and the classes you run...
I doubt I would have been able to sustain this growth if it weren't for your powerful, yet always thoughtful critiques. Because of you, all of us in the class have learned and are still in the process of learning this magical way of listening and responding. It's what makes the writing great and the class wonderful." ~ Michelle Burton |
"Emily's peculiar genius is helping fiction writers to find, feed, wrestle and live with their demons or muses... where do my stories and characters come from, how do they take shape in me, how can I allow and at the same times manage, their release onto the unfriendly, staring page? These are the kinds of questions we tale tellers "work on" at these "work shops." The angel, bright or dark, must be conjured before words can truly attach. ~Kurt Blankmeyer

"I went through your critique of my novel last night. Excellent throughout! Amazing how you picked up the things I felt weren’t there, yet didn’t know why or what to do about them...You have been a great teacher and friend... I'm sure there are countless others like me who would be trapped in our own minds and our own darkness if you hadn't coaxed us, with your gentle approach, your sincere encouragement and your complete non-judgment of who we are—into finding our way through the words waiting to come out on our pages."
